BOTULINUM TOXIN (BOTOX)

How long does the effect last?

Patients should be clear that the effect of this product is not permanent. Its length varies depending upon the dosage, the size and strength of the muscle to be treated, and personal factors. The length can vary from about four weeks to about 8 months, and its average effect lasts about four months.

When can the patient use makeup?

Eyelid and facial makeup, including mascara, eye shadow and false eyelashes can be used the following day after injections. If bruising occurs, it is important not to expose the area with sun or UV rays until the bruises have completely disappeared.

What are the possible complications and risks?

The application of botulinum toxin, like all medical treatments, depends not only on the preconditions, knowledge, experience and skill of the physician but also muscle quality, type of healing and personal characteristics of each patient. All medical processes inevitably has some risks. Fortunately, the most likely risks are less severe and much scarcer in most cases. However, any patient considering treatment should understand that although the administration of this product is made with all thoroughness and care, there will always be inherent risks.
