IPL DEPILACION PERMANENTE

This technique is for hair removal by high intensity pulsed light emission. It is not exactly a laser, but a system of non-coherent light emitting wavelengths and can vary ranging from 515nm (nanometers) up to 1200nm (nanometers).

The physician selects a shot with a light – wave length and adjusted intensity that is absorbed by the targeted hair follicles, located below the skin’s surface. The absorbed light heats and destroys the hair follicle’s capacity to regrow without damaging the tissues or the epidermis.

So it is that Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) offers a refined noninvasive solution for long-lasting hair removal, allowing treatment for many parts of the body including the chin, upper lip, cheeks, ears, nose, forehead, neck region, armpits, arms, chest, areola, the back, the alba line, the groin, and legs.

Pre-Treatment Advice

  • We recommend not to wax or use tweezers two weeks before treatment
  • Also we recommend no exposure to the sun or UV rays one month before treatment

Treatment

The patient must shave the area at least 1 day before the procedure.

During treatment, eye protection is necessary from the bright light.

A cold gel (similar to gel used in an ultrasound) is applied in the area being treated.
The IPL hand piece is then applied on the skin, producing a flash of light that removes unwanted hair.

The hair on the treated area will begin to fall around a week or two after the session.

No local anesthesia is required and most people tolerate the treatment with no side effects. Some patients may feel slight discomfort in very extensive treatments, so we recommend these treatments be divided into two stages.

Treatment may last from 10 to 60 minutes depending on the area being treated. It is performed on an outpatient consultation.

The amount of sessions depend on the region to be treated and the type of skin.

Post-Treatment Care

  • The treated area should be observed regularly for better contro.
  • Immediately after treatment, cold cream or gel is applied to relieve congestion and reduce the inflammatory process, if necessary.
  • Treatment is required after exposure to sun or UV rays during a month and depending on the anatomical region treated using total sun protection.
  • Avoid sources of heat such as saunas, pools, stoves, hot water baths, others.
  • The patient should also avoid any aggressive move on the skin during the first 12 hours after treatment.
